Formica cinerea Mayr, 1853
General description: Very common and abundant species throughout the Lower Volga region. It is occurring in all more or less humid habitats: grasslands, bush thickets, reeds, agrocenoses, etc. Only biocolour form of this species is known in the region, previously often considered as a separate species (Formica imitans Ruzsky, 1902) or subspecies F. cinerea (Seifert, 2002).
